The Mercury Tracer was initially introduced in 1988 and it was last redesigned in 1997. The 1997 redesign included a four-inch increase in overall length with a 25 percent boost in horsepower along with a firmer suspension and improved ergonomics. The exterior features were also modified with respect to the smooth features, flowing lines and rounded corners. The upfront features too were modified. The lines of the Xenon halogen head lights complement the downward curving grille that makes an aggressive statement. From the rear the high lights include flawless tail lights and a full width reflective appliqué along with the HID Kit. The Mercury Tracer continues over to the 1999 model with not many significant changes. A few features are revised and a new interior color is offered. It is available in two trims GS and LS. The GS model is priced at $11,580 and the LS model is priced at $13,120. The GS and LS model has a standard engine of 2.0L 110 HP I4 along with a horse power of 110 RPM @ 5000 and the Torque is at 125 RPM @ 3750. It has an optional 4-speed automatic overdrive and a standard 5-speed manual overdrive. This is a good option for people who travel long distances as it will save fuel.
