1967 saw the introduction of Buick GS 400 which was equipped with the brand new 400 cubic inch engine. The new engine had a relatively more modern design, and was seen as a futuristic air cleaner. In 1967, a junior model was also introduced. It was equipped with a 340 cubic inches engine. Although the model was good, it was often neglected due to the bigger brother. The line went through a major makeover in 1968. The wheelbase was smaller by 3 inches and the overall length was shortened by 4.4 inches. However, there was an overall weight increase due to the larger rear end design. The 400 cubic inch unit still remained the same but the junior modal was upgraded to a 350 cubic inches engine to boost its performance. Both the model and its junior were installed with HID Kit and xenon lights. The 1969 Buick GS 400 was further improvised to include a standard functional hood scoops for cold-air induction to enhance its competitive advantage against other brands. It was claimed that the new feature increased the power by 8% and torque by 6% but the ratings of the car did not change. Later, consumers could also choose between two options for the 400 engine - Stage 1 and Stage 2. Stage 1 was able to run at 345bhp while Stage 2 had an output of 360bhp.Lights color options:
