The name was used between 1959 and 1990. There were two variants of the line – Buick Electra and Buick Electra 225. The cars plate has an overall length of 225 inches. It was even widely known as "deuce and a quarter" among the common people. A total of 144 cars were produced between 1959 and 1960. The line, along with all other 1959 Buicks, was characterized by slanted HID kit in front and "Delta-wing" fins at the back together with Xenon headlights. It also had chromium-plated square grille which was shaped in the style similar to that of the 1958 Buicks. Till today, the 1960 Electra and Electra 225 had survived through the new and improved "Tri-Shield" logo. The logo received a minor makeover with a concave grille and horizontal headlights. The line also introduced innovations when they installed the line with a new two-spoke steering wheel with horn bars. It was to replace the horn ring which was still common to most automobiles at that time. The 1961 Buick model was the last batch of cars to possess the Buick Electra nameplate. In 1962, only Electra 225 was available.
